Holmes, Robert John (Captain Jack)

Following a long battle with kidney disease, Bob passed peacefully with his family by his side at the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital on March 14th 2015 at the age of 64. Loving husband of Wendy. Cherised father of Katie Holmes (Brad Nelson), Nicki and her husband Wiert Reitzema and Erik Holmes. His furry children Sam and Jeffry will miss their fireplace companion. He will be missed by his brother John Holmes and nephew Matt Holmes. Bob will be forever remembered by Hank (father in law) and Joan Russelle. Bob was predeceased by his parents Jack and Muriel Holmes and mother in law Joan (Wade) Russelle. Large extended family will also miss him, Debbie and Mike Fenn (Rita, Mark and Mike) and Michele and Bill Moltner (Krystin, Shannon, Scott, Reagan, Brett). Bob will now be forever alongside his best friend Jimmy. The family would like to support the kind efforts of the staff at Oakville Trafalgar especially our new families on 4 East and the Dialysis Unit, noting the amazing care of Dr. Sanjay Pandeya, Dr. Ian McDougall, and Dr. Lawrence Chau. Bob and his family will always remember his students and colleagues whose lives touched him in his long career as a social worker. He will always be remembered for his lifelong commitment of helping children. We will miss you Captain! Family and friends will be received at the Ward Funeral Home, 109 Reynolds Street, Oakville on Wednesday March 18 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Celebration of Bob’s life will be held at Maple Grove United Church, 346 Maple Grove Drive, Oakville on Thursday March 19, 2015 at 11 a.m. Reception to follow at the Water Street Cooker, 2084 Old Lakeshore Road, Burlington. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Ontario Association of Children’s Aid Societies or Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital - Dialysis Unit would be appreciated.
