Robert Elmer Hannon

Hannon, Robert Elmer (Bert) 1937 – 2024 

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Bert at the Tullamore Care Centre in Brampton on Sunday November 10th aged 87. Bert was born in Brantford to Elmer Wilbur Hannon and Thelma Margaret Hannon (nee Hill) on January 12th 1937. His love of aviation led him to several careers involving flying including being an Air Traffic Controller at Pearson International (formerly Malton Airport) and as an Air Courier with Brinks. Bert even attained his single and multiple engine pilots licenses which he put to good use flying his family on many vacations. His move from Norwich to Weston is where he met Shirley Ann Hathaway. There were married on November 14th 1959 and were looking forward to celebrating their 65th wedding anniversary in a few short days when he passed. Bert will be met at the rainbow bridge by many of his beloved dogs…all the Kings and Sam’s that he adored and enjoyed walking around Peel Village. 

Bert is survived by his wife Shirley, children Robert (Carolyn) and Judy, as well as his cherished grandchildren Hunter, Ryan, Alexandra and Jack. Bert was predeceased by his parents Elmer and Thelma and many aunts, uncles and cousins. 

We are grateful for his long, devoted life as a husband, father, father-in-law and grandfather and thankful that he was able to pass in the presence of his wife Shirley.
