ATTRELL, Robert Beverly
June 1940 – September 2010
Resident of Brampton – After a courageous battle with Cancer, Robert surrounded by his loving family went to meet his Savior and Lord on September sixth at Headwaters Hospital in Orangeville. Robert was born in Orillia and raised by his parents, the late Gordon and Margery Attrell of Toronto. He was the beloved husband of Hazel Attrell for over 50 years. Robert will forever be remembered by his devoted children, Linda (Edward) Jongsma, John (Kimberley) Attrell, David (Terry) Attrell and Bob Attrell Jr. and treasured by his nine grandchildren. Predeceased by his brother Harold Attrell and his sister in-law Dorothy Barney, greatly missed by his sister in-law Julia Wilbur and brother in-law Ron Wilbur. Robert rededicated his life to Christ in 2000. Robert attended Bramalea Baptist Church for many years with his dear wife Hazel. As a member of Bramalea Baptist Church it was Robert’s privilege to serve on the Board of Director’s of the church. Robert had a dynamic fifty year career in the Automotive Industry. He entered the industry as a technician in the 1960’s. From working as a technician to owning his own repair shop in Toronto, Robert developed a great passion for the automotive industry. In 1968, Robert began working for Toyota Canada, first as a service representative and then as a sales representative. After six years of experience with Toyota Canada, Robert acquired the Brampton Toyota franchise in 1975. Robert started the business at 250 Queen Street West in Brampton, then moved to 243 Queen Street East, and finally to 247 Queen Street East, where Robert ran Attrell Toyota for 17 years as Dealer Principal. With a vision for developing the market for Toyota’s in Canada, Robert became the founding President of the Canadian Association of Japanese Automobile Dealers. His sons joined him in this business venture starting with his son John in 1980, then David and finally Bob Jr. His son John became the General Manager in 1990 and his son David took on the responsibility of Service Manger in 1997. Robert was active in the Automotive Industry serving as President of the Toronto Automobile Dealers Association. The Attrell family acquired the Brampton Hyundai franchise in 1990, which was later bought by Bob Jr. who is now the Dealer Principal. Family and friends will be received at the Ward Funeral Home “Brampton Chapel” 52 Main Street South (Hwy 10) Brampton on Thursday September 9th from 2pm – 4pm and 7pm – 9pm. All family and friends are welcome to join us for a Celebration of Robert’s life at Bramalea Baptist Church located at 9050 Dixie Road Brampton at 11am on Friday September 10th. Following the Service, please join the family for refreshments and fellowship in the Church Hall. Internment will follow at the Brampton Memorial Gardens Located at 10061 Chinguascousy Road, at Bovaird Drive Brampton.
