Rita Ann Wadey

Peacefully on September 13, 2022, in her hundred and first year. Rita, beloved wife of the late Hugh. Loving mother of David, Miriam, Monica and her husband Peter, Veronica and her husband Henry, Mark and his wife Anna and of the late Paul and John. Dear mother-in-law of Norma. Grandma will be missed by Daniel (Bianca), D’Arcy (Lindsay), Sean (Katie), Bridget (Paul), Carmen, Luke, Alyssa, Selina, Kristen, Francis (Tammy) and by her great grandchildren Rylan, Torren, Adeline, Emmett, Preston, Charlotte, Mckenna and Madelyn. Predeceased by her brother William. Rita has been reunited with the love of her life Hugh.

Rita’s love of music led her to the Royal Conservatory of Music in Montreal. It was here that she was home, music was her heart and soul. She had fond memories of her time at College Villa Marie in Montreal, Quebec.
Rita was a faithful woman who loved the Lord, her family, church, and community. She was a teacher by profession, she taught children with special needs. Rita enjoyed helping others, she served many meals at Good Sheppard. She was part of the Catholic Women’s League. Rita was a role model to many; she was a girl guide and brownie leader and helped with Christian and other retreats.

She treasured her children and grandchildren and embraced every moment with them. Her radiant smile would light up the room anytime her family would visit. Holidays and Sundays were always special to Rita as it would bring her family home. Christmas eve dinners were enjoyed around the table feasting on Mom’s/Grandma’s tourtieres.

A heartfelt thank you to the staff of Memory & Company who cared for and loved our dear mother throughout her stay.

Family and friends will be received at the Ward Funeral Home 4671 Hwy 7, Woodbridge on Thursday from 5:00-8:00 p.m. A mass will be held on Friday September 16, 2022 at 11 o’clock at St. Justin Martyr Church 3898 Hwy 7 East, Unionville. Interment at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Good Shepherd or the charity of your choice.
