Ricky Arthur Reed
Ricky Arthur Reed, age 55, passed away peacefully surrounded by family February 27, 2022 due to lung cancer. He was born May 10, 1966 at Women’s College Hospital in Toronto, Ontario to Barbara and Ralph Reed.
Rick grew up in Etobicoke, Ontario where he attended Green Meadows Public School and Martingrove Collegiate Institute. He was an active member of the Mighty 4th Cubs and Scouts at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church. He was also a tremendous athlete excelling at both hockey (Royal York) and lacrosse (Rexdale).
Rick worked part-time at Coca-Cola, as a young adult, before settling in to an incredible 30 year plus career as an Auto Mechanic at Weston Ford (formerly Cruickshank Motors).
Cars were definitely a key theme for Rick over the years. His lifelong hobby was restoring a 1971 Camaro that he used for car rallies and excursions with his friends. If he wasn’t working on or driving his Camaro, he would either be snowmobiling, ATVing, dirt biking, boating, golfing or fishing. In addition, one of his favourite hobbies was woodworking.
Rick had an impressive array of nicknames including Hammer, Mr. Fix-it, Baby Vince, Ricky Rock, Crippler, Nibs, McGyver and Uncle Butt-Head.
Rick was most proud of and is survived by his two daughters Melissa Reed and Samantha Reed who were his whole world; his brother and wife Ron and Colleen Reed and their two daughters Allison and Josie; his sister and husband Kelly Reed and John Quartarone and Kelly’s children Reed, Sara and Avery; his ex-wife Cari Reed (Duncan) and his dog, Pepper.
