Richard (Dick) Andreas Kuntze
April 10, 1928 - March 8, 2015
Peacefully with family, at home in Woodbridge, Ontario, late in his 86th year. Beloved husband of Hildegard, wife of 61 years, and loving father of Christine (the late Nicholas) and Martin (Lezli). Very fondly remembered by grandchildren Brett (Kristen), Alexandra (Jeff), Justin, Devon and Ryan and great grandchildren Quinn and Madelaine.
Born in Berlin, Germany, Richard pursued an education in chemistry and gained his PhD before immigrating to Canada in 1951. He was joined by his loving wife, Hildegard, in 1953. His exceptional work ethic was evident in his lengthy career with the Ontario Research Foundation (now Process Research ORTECH Inc.), eventually becoming Vice-President of Operations and achieving international recognition in his field. He was passionate about research and solving real-world problems associated with construction materials, continuing his connection with those disciplines through professional associations long after retirement.
Richard will be greatly missed for his generosity, curiosity, great wit and wisdom. He loved fine dining, travel, reading history, golden age mystery novels and research journals, and was an engaging, intelligent conversationalist. The natural beauty at the family cottage also held a very special place in his heart. The time spent together with him there will forever provide cherished memories.
Many thanks to his caregivers, Maria, and especially Jenny, his doting live-in caregiver for more than a year.
Private cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends at the Ward Funeral Home, Woodbridge Chapel, 4671 Highway # 7, from 2- 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 14, 2015.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Richard's name can be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation. Please visit the Book of Memories at www.wardfuneralhome.com
