Riccarda Schembri

It is with great sadness and much love that we say goodbye to our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Riccarda (Ida) Schembri, on December 11, 2024, at the age of 92. She was surrounded by her family in her final moments and is at peace.

She will forever be remembered by her children, Frank and his wife Noreen, Mary Ann and her late husband Bob, Sharon and her husband Peter. By her grandson, Derek, his wife Stephanie, and her great-grandsons Theodore and Thomas. By her granddaughter, Melanie and her husband Luke, along with her great-grandchildren Layla and her great-grandson, due in May. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Charles Schembri, who she married in 1956 after immigrating to Canada from Malta.

Her selfless love for family was known by all. Her home was always filled with the smell of pastizzi, homemade buns, apple pie and the sounds of stories and laughter around the family table. Her love for her family and her church was ever present to her final moments. She always said, “God doesn’t give you anything you cannot handle.”

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Woodhall Park Retirement Village for the care shown to Ida during her stay there in her final years.
