Fran was born in Shedden Ontario in 1933. Her parents Albert and Beatrice (Meek) took up residence in East Toronto shortly after her birth. Fran graduated from Leaside High School and studied journalism at Ryerson Polytechnic Institute. Her career in journalism spanned several decades, writing for the Stratford Beacon-Herald, Toronto Star, Bramalea Guardian and The Brampton-Times. She also worked as an editor for Ryerson Press. Always a spiritual person, Fran followed her devotion and graduated with a degree in Theology from Wycliffe College (UofT) in 1976 and later when seeking ordination in the United Church studied at Knox College (UofT). Fran was ordained in the United Church in 1988 and was minister in a number of rural Ontario communities. Even well into in her retirement Fran kept busy with pastoral work including officiating at weddings and funerals. Fran was always active as a community volunteer serving with the YMCA, St. Leonards House, Brownies, Guides and the Boy Scouts just to mention a few. She loved being of service to others and the Lord.
Fran, will sadly be missed by her son Chuck Williams (Cathy) and daughter Bronwen Anscombe (Tracy) , grandsons Matt and Ben Williams. The family is appreciative of the compassionate care she received while residing at the Centennial Manor in Bancroft. Her care providers treated her with dignity and respect-the family is eternally grateful for those blessings.
Rev. Frances Williams, a dedicated ordained minister for the United Church, passed away peacefully on June 23 2024, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on January 27, 1933, and throughout her life, she exemplified kindness, compassion, and unwavering love for all.
Fran will always be remembered as someone with a heart of gold and a sincere passion for helping others. Her unconditional love touched the lives of many, and her to serving her community was truly admirable. She approached everything in life with hard work and dedication, inspiring those around her to do the same.
She is survived by her loving family who cherished her dearly. In this time of grief, may they find solace in the memories shared with Rev. Williams and the impact she had on countless lives.
