Remy Sebastiano Quarin
8 September 1955 - 18 May 2021
It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Remy Sebastiano Quarin on Tuesday, 18 May 2021 at his apartment in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Remy was the son of the late Giuseppe Quarin, San Lorenzo, Friuli, Italy and Caterina Lucia Quarin (Pippo), Valvasone, Friuli, Italy. Remy leaves behind several aunts, uncles and numerous cousins across multiple continents.
Before her death, Remy’s mother Lucia, ever concerned with Remy’s well-being, entrusted his care to a few of his Toronto-based cousins as legal guardians and trustees. They endeavoured to do their utmost to ensure Remy’s freedom and independence whilst safeguarding his security and well-being. As a result, Remy was able to continue living the independent lifestyle that he had always enjoyed and desired.
Following in his parents’ footsteps, Remy was nothing if not a passionate and proud member of the Famee Furlane of Toronto. As a dedicated and active member of his parish, All Saints Church, he contributed by being a weekly usher. He was also very accomplished in speaking, writing and reading in English, Friulano & Italian, something most of us would consider challenging. Aside from languages, Remy's memory for dates regarding birthdays, anniversaries, etc., was remarkable. He would never fail to amaze and pleasantly surprise his countless relatives with yearly phone calls bearing wishes of Buon Compleanno, Buona Pasqua, Buon Natale or Buon Anno. Remy was always a fount of information including current events, politics, religion and wellness hacks, for which he kept copious and detailed notes. He would never pass up an opportunity for a passionate debate or discussion.
Through life’s many challenges, Remy’s unfailing stoicism, determination and perseverance enabled him to get through each and every day. There is no doubt that his strength of character, dedication to core beliefs and deep faith gave him the purpose and meaning which propelled his journey through life.
In accordance with the Government of Canada Covid-19 Guidance, Remy's guardians and trustees have arranged a Private Memorial Service via a virtual link with Ward Funeral Home on Thursday, 27 May 2021 for a Liturgical Memorial Service at 10:30 am (EST Canada). The link will open at 10:20am. We wish to invite the many relatives and friends of Remy from far and wide - Italy, France, Belgium, Australia and across Canada to join us. Please visit www.wardfuneralhome.com for the link.
Expressions of sympathy may be conveyed by donations to Toronto Sick Kids Hospital.
A private family interment will follow at a later date.
