Raymond Smela

Ray passed away peacefully at home after a courageous battle with cancer, husband of 50 years to the late Joan Smela (2007), wonderful father to Jim, Laurie (Doug Warrington) and Jackie (Glenn Macdonald); 'Pops' was especially proud of all his grandchildren, Leigh (Eric Kester), Catie (Jason Akerman), Michael, JD, Jamie, Charlie and Lauren. He was the heart of our family, a generous spirit always with a positive outlook. Whether it was on the golf course or over lunch, Ray was never afraid to spark lively discussion or suggest a unique perspective, but what we will miss most, is his advice for every predicament we threw his way. He practiced law for over 20 years before discovering his real passion for real estate, both here in Ontario and on Marco Island, Florida. He admired seeing people working hard to improve themselves and constantly validated their hard work with unexpected kindness and words of support. He knew where they came from. In keeping with Ray's wishes there will be no formal Service, however we hope you will raise a glass and toast his life, his generosity and his unwavering positive attitude which inspired us all.
