Raffaele Simonetta (Luzzo) was born on September 13, 1928 in Serra San Bruno (Catanzaro) Calabria, to Biagio and Marianna. Raffaele was the second oldest of eight siblings. Raffaele has joined his parents and siblings Assuntina, Angelo, Michele (Teresa), and Salvatore in heaven. Raffaele is survived by his brothers Giuseppe (Bruna), Vittorio (Anne Marie) and Agostino (Giovanna), and sister-in laws Gina and Emma.
Raffaele loved his in-laws very much. In heaven he joins his in-laws Biagio & Brunina. Sister in law Rita Pupo and brother in laws Raffaele & Giuseppe. He is survived by sister in laws Sara (Biagio), Natalina (Aldo), Assunta (Bruno), sister in law Tina and brother in law Fernando.
Raffaele immigrated to Canada in 1951 leaving behind his life in Italy. He embarked on creating a better life full of hope and prosperity. In 1954, his beloved Rosa joined him and they were married on October 16, 1954 in Niagara Falls, Ontario. A few years passed and their family began to grow with the birth of their children Biagio (Adele), MaryAnn (Tony), Oreste (Lisa) and Silvana (Peter).
The family tree with four branches flourished to include 11 grandchildren, Melissa, Marc, Amanda (Alexander), Michael (Sara), Alana (Joseph), Paul (Mary Frances), Victoria (Matthew), Julia (Luca), Jenna, Max and Sierra. The family tree continued to flourish with seven great grandchildren, Madalyn, Luca, Adam, Sofia, Scarlett, Evelyn and Alessia.
Raffaele was kind to all who met him. He possessed a spirit of generosity and thoughtfulness, and demonstrated a physical strength that continued to surprise us up until his final days. Raffaele loved to work in his garage and tinker with his tools to create his own new inventions. The finished products were always impressive.
Raffaele’s love for his wife was unconditional throughout their 68 years of marriage. Raffaele loved his children greatly and made many sacrifices to give them opportunities that he never had. He deeply loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren, they filled his heart with immense joy and pride.
Raffaele was an extraordinary man and will be dearly missed. His memory will live in our hearts forever.
