It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our dear father, grandfather (Opa/Opie) and great grandfather, Peter Hooiveld on Tuesday, December 21, 2010 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Peter was the husband of Miep, who predeceased him only 3 months prior, after 63 ½ years of marriage. Peter was a strong man, brave and always focused on providing the best for his family. He leaves behind sons Peter (Theresa), John(Susan), George, daughter-in-law Gina (Charlie) predeceased, 8 grandchildren and their spouses, and great grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, several relatives still residing in the Netherlands as well as many dear and long time friends in Canada. We all will miss him dearly.
Special thanks to the wonderful staff at Holland Christian Homes(Grace Manor), who never faltered in providing him gentle, nurturing and spiritual care.
Family and friends may call at the Ward Funeral Home, 52 Main Street, S.,(Hwy 10) Brampton on Thursday, from 7-9 p.m. A memorial service will take place on Friday at Holland Christian Homes, 7900 Mclaughlin Road, Brampton on Friday at 1 p.m.
