Piero Finos Oct 28, 1928 - Aug 23, 2014
Our family cannot find the words to express our profound loss of Piero Finos. He passed away at Southlake Hospital after battling with an advanced melanoma, diagnosed in January 2014. Until then, Piero enjoyed a physically active and fun-filled lifestyle - an example to his kids and four grandchildren. Piero will be remembered for his strong and kind character. His jokes and tricks would keep everyone entertained. His business savvy was a product of his incredible strength of character. His love of family, travel, playing cards, radio talk shows and company ensured that he made the most of life. He will be remembered for his humour and the exemplary manner in which he led his life. He was a tile setter and built his business from the ground up, always doing his best.
He married Caterina Bomben in 1955 and they raised two children, Fulvia (Gilbert) Cantarutti and Patricia (Joe) Perna. He instilled the values and importance of a strong work ethic and put a huge emphasis on family, education, and building relationships. He loved to play card tricks and reminded us to laugh often.
He was a caring and fun Nonno to four grandchildren, whom he was extremely proud of: Alyssa, Dana, Catherine and Robert. He loved to teach them things and ask them trivia questions.
Piero enjoyed sharing his knowledge of history, geography and the meaning of words - we often laughed at his "lessons". Piero was one who always saw the glass half full; he never complained or asked for help. He lived his life with principle, integrity and surrounded by family and friends.
We would like to thank the palliative care team at Southlake Hospital, and especially Anna Maier for her many years of friendship. Friends will be received at the Ward Funeral Home 4671 Highway 7 Woodbridge 905 851 9100, on Monday August 25 2014 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. A funeral mass will be celebrated at Saint Clare of Assisi Church 150 St. Francis Avenue Woodbridge on Tuesday August 26th, 2014 at 9:30 a.m.. Interment to follow at Prospect Cemetery.
