On Thursday, February 16, 2017, at the age of 91, Pierina passed peacefully into the arms of God, surrounded by her loving family.
Predeceased by her husband Giovanni (2009), lovingly remembered by her children, Frank and Gina, daughter-in-law Wanda, and her grandchildren Jonathan and Sophia. She will be sadly missed by both family and friends. Mom will be remembered as a woman who had strong opinions, was a great conversationalist and story teller, and her heart was kind and gracious, and her home was always open for an impromptu meal. She loved to cook and entertain her friends and family and will be remembered for her deep love and generosity, especially for her grand children. Special thanks to the staff of Mackenzie Health, Richmond Hill, especially those in the Intensive Care Unit who treated mom with kindness and compassion as they managed her medical condition. Also many thanks to the staff and members of the Seniors Day Program sponsored by Costi, Green and Ross and the Calabrian Benenvolent Association of Ontario where she spent the last four months, laughing, singing, making new friends and entertaining everyone as usual. She will be resting at The Ward Funeral Home, 4671 Highway 7, Woodbridge, just west of Pine Valley Drive, 905 851 9100 on Monday from 6-9 pm and on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-9pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday February 22, 2017 at 9:30 am, at St. Peter's Church, 100 Bainbridge Avenue, Woodbridge. Entombment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, 8361 Yonge Street, Thornhill. Donations can be made to the MacKenzie Health Hospital Richmond Hill (Intensive Care Unit)
