It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of our mother and grandmother on Tuesday June 21, 2022 at Villa Colombo in Kleinburg where she has resided for the past several years. She has been reunited with the love of her life Americo, and their beautiful infant son Mario in heaven.

Left to mourn are her children- Armando (Denise) Elliot Lake; Mary, Ottawa; Angelo (Josie) Cookstown; and Louie (Cynthia) Winnipeg; her beloved grandchildren and the lights of her life- Adrian (Vaughan), Rose (Bradford) and Matt (Winnipeg) as well as her sister Ottavia in Italy; and, many nephews, nieces, relatives and friends in Canada and Italy alike.

In life, Pierina was a strong and determined woman who lived 40 plus years as a stroke survivor. She was a loving wife and mother, avid learner of English, seamstress extraordinaire, talented gardener and one of the best panettone and pizza makers in the old neighbourhood. In death, she chose her moment to leave this world.

Armando, Mary and Louie would like to extend our love and appreciation to our brother Angelo and sister-in-law Josie for their dedication and care of mother over these many years. They were there for her last hours and we will be eternally grateful for their vigil and providing us with a means to offer our individual goodbyes from afar.

The family is thankful to all the staff of Villa Colombo for their support and care of Pierina.

Given that Pierina disliked the colour black as it symbolized extended grieving, we would request that white or cheerful colours be worn at her funeral.

Family and friends will be received at the Ward Funeral Home 4671 Hwy 7, Woodbridge (Just west of Pine Valley Dr.) on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Friday June 24, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. Entombment to follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
