PHILLIP ROBERT ZAN

With great sadness, we announce the passing of Phillip Robert Zan. Born in Toronto on March 11, 1971, passed away on February 11, 2022, in his 51st year.

Born and raised in the Keele and Lawrence area, Phillip was a fixture at the local arenas. Whether it was playing hockey or refereeing games Phil had a love of hockey. He was an avid Toronto MapleLeafs fan and enjoyed attending games when he could. Growing up Phil spent many summers fishing and enjoying the cottage life up at Clearview Cottage Resort which in time became a second home/family to the Zan family. Phil had many interests, but music was a big one. Whether playing in bands throughout his time, sharing his love of music with his nieces and nephews or just rocking out in his apartment or with friends. Music was always a part of his life.

For all who knew Phillip, knows about Phil’s Bistro. Phil emerged himself into cooking and sharing his glorious creations for all to see. Always trying to find new recipes while experimenting with much loved old ones, anyone could see the passion he developed over the years.

The love and devotion he had for his amazing wife Trish was shown in in each day they were together. Meeting at a young age, the love they shared was and will be everlasting.

Phillip will be greatly missed by his wife Trish, his parents Michael and Corinne(both predeceased), sister Deborah Lang, brother Russell Zan (predeceased) (wife Diane). He was a loving Uncle to Victoria, Lindsay, Andrew, Jessica, Brittaney, Austin and Great Uncle to Kalib. He was a Special Uncle to Steven and Liam and will be missed greatlyby his many Uncles, Aunts and Cousins. He will also be missed and remembered by the many friends and surrogate family he made along his journey.

There will be a private family service held with cremation to follow. A public celebration of life to be held at a later date, details to follow.

As Phil would say,“Tell them I’m going fishing.” – Chief Brody
