STEPHENS, Peter
Peter Stephens passed away February 11, 2014 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in London, England on May 23, 1929 to Reginald Stephens and Beatrice Hunt, Peter was a child evacuee to the English countryside during WWII. He graduated from the London School of Economics and had a long career in international banking. His work took him all over the world, including Cyprus where he met Koulitsa Hadgeorgeiou and married her within a year in Beirut, Lebanon. He loved to travel and took a one year post teaching Economics at Ningbo University in China in his later years. Peter enjoyed his Greek family and they are deeply saddened by his passing. Peter will fondly be remembered for his daily routine of sitting down at 7:00 p.m., putting his feet up and having a glass of whiskey. He is survived by his wife, Koulitsa and twin sons Mark and his wife Stella Kalambaliki and Grant and his wife Theresa Salari. He will be missed by his grandchildren Christina and Peter and many friends and colleagues. Friends may pay their final respects on Saturday, February 22, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Ward Funeral Home, 4671 Highway 7, Woodbridge, with a Memorial Service in the chapel following at 11:00 a.m.. He will be cremated and his cremated remains will be scattered at a later date. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society.
