Peter John Smith

Peter John Smith, 82 years, passed away on February 3, 2025, in Mississauga , Ontario. He was born on November 30th 1942 in Toronto, Ontario.

Peter’s happiest times were spent on a lake, boating & water skiing.. His early years were spent on Lake Simcoe, where he and his twin brother Paul tinkered with building boats. Peter’s favorite place was the Smith cottage on Sunny Lake where, he and Marlene and their six children, spent every summer. Often Peter could be found, under the cottage, fixing plumbing or on the lake taking the whole family (including dogs) on boat rides.

Peter managed C.J Smith Refrigeration, along with his brother Paul, in Toronto. Together they established a loyal client base until the company sold in 1998. Peter often spoke fondly of his employees and clients. Peter is predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Marlene (2023), brother Paul Smith (1993), sister Valerie Logan (2019), mother Eleanor Smith (nee Penn, 1990), his father Cecil Smith (1976) and brother-in-law James Cowie (2021).

 Peter is remembered by his six children Joanne (Jeremy), Darren, Danielle (Buddy), Melissa (Andrew), Candace and Diana (Sher). Also remembered by his nine grandchildren Ryan, Brendan, Alex, Brianna, Sylvia, Sophie, Sadie, Siobhan and Cas, his sister Susan Cowie and many nephews and nieces. 

A private family cremation has taken place.
