Paul Léandre Charles Brunet

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Paul Léandre Charles Brunet, who died peacefully on January 7, 2025, at the age of 74.

Paul was predeceased by his parents, Léandre and Yvette. He will forever be lovingly remembered by his wife, Carol, whom he met in 1972 in Montreal West/NDG. They were inseparable since then, and together they moved to Toronto in 1979, the night of the Mississauga Rail Disaster, as he was fond of mentioning.

He is also survived by his siblings: Pierre (Susan), Micheline (Richard), Claire (Stan), Pauline (Roger), and Anne (Peter), as well as his many nephews, nieces, and countless family and friends.

Paul had a lifelong passion for trains and model railroading. He worked at CP Rail for 26 years, and was a proud member of both the Model Railroad Club of Toronto and the Maple Leaf Modelers Railroad Club. Even in retirement, he continued to stay connected with his former colleagues and eagerly looked forward to model railroad road trips and conventions.

Outside of his professional and hobbyist interests, Paul enjoyed glamping trips with close friends, and loved cooking, as either chef or sous-chef, while socializing over good food with great friends either at their homes or favorite restaurants. Even after 54 years together, he still looked forward to and cherished Saturday date nights with Carol.

Paul had a special love for animals, particularly owls, seal rescues, and retired horses. He supported charities focused on children’s causes and animal welfare. His sense of humor, genuine care, and kindness will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
