Norman Smith

Norman F. Smith
May 18, 1930 – Sept 19, 2023

Norman Frederic Smith passed away unexpectedly but peacefully on September 19, 2023, surrounded by his five children.

He was predeceased by his second wife Jeannine Vinet (1999). He is survived by his third wife Donna, and his first wife, Shirley; daughters Dianne (Randy), Cathy (Craig 2020), his son Brian (Patti); his stepdaughters Lyne (Rob) and Marie-Josee; his six beautiful grandchildren Alanna, Madison, Alexander, Carolyne, Julie and Victoria and adored by his great granddaughter Makenna who brought him much joy and laughter.

As former President of William Smith & Sons, he travelled extensively sourcing the world for great china and giftware; namely Denby, Waterford Crystal, Aysnley China and Portmeirion. He was very engaged in the industry, especially as a founding member of the Canadian Gift and Tableware Association (CGTA) where he made numerous life-long friends.

His heart also belonged to his beloved County of Haliburton where he spent countless hours over the years with family and friends. He instilled the love for the Haliburton Highlands in all of his five children and his six grandchildren. In his later years, away from work, he was a quiet man who loved playing golf, cheering on his beloved Argonauts, Leafs and Blue Jays.

Our father was a kind, caring and giving person who was proud of his children and of each of their life accomplishments. It was absolutely wonderful that we were able to surround him with much love and support during the last year of his life.

A private Funeral Service will be held for the family. For those who wish, donations may be made to Rotary Club Etobicoke https://www.rotaryetobicoke.org/
