Norma Lozada

Lozada, Norma (nee Monfrinotti) February 22, 1934 – November 26, 2019.

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Norma. Predeceased by her beloved husband Telo and her grandson Matthew. Also, predeceased by her parents Arturo and Catalina and her brother Arturo. She is survived by her daughters Claudia (Dominic), Michelle (Domenic) and grandchildren Steven, Nicolas, Erica, Michael, and Alexander. She will be missed by her sister, Silvia, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews in Argentina as well as her Goddaughter Lidia and family in Spain.

Not many people knew till recently that she was having many heart complications which eventually lead to heart failure. She had been in and out of the hospital since September and died at St. Michael’s hospital in Toronto, Canada.

Norma was born in Córdoba, Argentina, daughter to an Italian father and an Argentinean-Italian mother. Norma always had happy memories of her childhood, despite the fact that she had Rheumatic Fever (carditis) at age 16. Norma loved life and was very ambitious. She accomplished many studies including at Escuela Arzobispo Castellano and El Colegio de Maria Hermanas Esclavas del Corazón de Jesús. She was an educator and showed compassion to her students. She also studied literature at university. She had the opportunity to work at the Catholic University of Córdoba. She enjoyed many social activities at the Asociación Redes Cordobesas. Singing and playing the piano were her passions at the Conservatorio Provincial Música.

When she married Telo in 1967, they both worked at Renault (Industrias Kaiser Argentina). However, the following year they immigrated to Canada. Norma started a new life, she had to adapt to a new culture and embrace a new society. She worked in different jobs including the Bank of Montreal and Sears. She did many sacrifices to help the family. Norma was a devoted wife and mother to her two daughters.

When she was in her fifties, she received her driver’s license. She also went back to college and graduated as a Social Worker. This was a great accomplishment. She worked for COSTI helping many immigrants, especially those in the Hispanic community, integrate into Canada. She worked at COSTI until her retirement in the late 1990s.

Norma was an amazing woman. An inspiration to all and was loved dearly by all who knew her. She had a great spirit, a strong passion and desire to live life to the fullest. She was cheerful, energetic and one of the most positive human beings you could ever meet. She touched everyone’s heart and will be forever remembered by all her family and friends predominately in Canada, and Argentina.
