Norma Achong, age 93 passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, February 18th, 2021.

She is survived by her sons, Ricardo and Victor; her siblings, Valerie, Joyce, Bernice Anna, Bennet and Kelvin; her grandchildren, Angelique, Michelle, Brianna, Marcia, and Colleen; her great-grandchildren, Jameel, Isaiah and Adaiah; her many nieces and nephews; and relatives of the Pollonais, Smiths, Achongs, Mendozas, James, Achans, Bigfords and Yee’s

Her contributions to the lives of many include the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Church of St Mary and St Martha (formerly Church of the Good Shepherd) and the countless others.

Born on March 15th, 1927, in Williamsville, Trinidad and Tobago. The daughter of Josephine and David Mendoza, Norma was also the eldest of twelve siblings. She eventually left Trinidad immigrating to Toronto, Canada. With a great sense of humor and a sharp and witty mind, Norma loved to share stories and memories of her home, as well as cook and bake marvelous breads and treats for her loved ones. She was also an avid gardener and you would often find her watering her backyard vegetables or potting flowers in her favourite chair on the porch.

She was loved by all who met her and will be deeply missed.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the wonderful staff at VHA Home Healthcare and Dorothy Ley Hospice for their compassionate care and service to Norma in her final days.
