Nicola Di Nucci

Nicola Di Nucci was born on February 18, 1934 in Paglieta (Italy) to parents Leonardo and Agostina Rosa. As a child he enjoyed time spent with his three siblings, Camillo, Mario and Maria; helping farm their agricultural property.

In 1959, as a young adult, Nicola emigrated to Canada to seek greater opportunities. Upon arrival he found a community of 'paesani' to support his new journey in Toronto. Shortly afterwards, he met his wife, Filomena, and settled in North York where they raised three children, Leonardo, Gabriele and Nadia.

Nicola valued hard work. For more than 50 years, he worked as a cement finisher in both commercial and residential spaces. He was proud of the legacy of his work, often reminiscing about colleagues and the various jobs he was involved in throughout the city. In retirement, Nicola enjoyed tending to his vegetable and flower gardens. He took pleasure in sharing seasonal harvests with family, friends and neighbours.

Nicola adored gatherings. His happiest moments were spent with family and friends, including his daily walks, evening card games and weekly lunches. Nicola recently marked his 90th birthday in a celebration with loved ones.

Nicola passed on July 12, 2024 at Humber River Hospital (Toronto) surrounded by immediate family.

He is survived by his wife, Filomena, brother, Mario (Carmela), children, Leonardo (Maria Domenica), Gabriele (Nadia), Nadia (David), grandchildren Jessica (Vahe), Erica (Tufan), Claudia, Alex, Stephanie, Oriana, Alissia and Paolo, and great-grandchildren Joseph, Victor and Thomas.
