Soldera, Nicola
Peacefully at home on December 14, 2014, surrounded by family at the age of 93, following a brief illness. Born in Meduna di Livenza, Treviso, Italy, he and his beloved wife Alma came to Canada in 1949. They settled in Thunder Bay, Ontario where he worked as a baker and pursued his life long passion of hunting and fishing. Following retirement in 1986, he relocated to Woodbridge, Ontario to be closer to family. Predeceased by his loving wife Alma in 2001 and son-in-law Brian in 2006, he is survived by son Lidio (Antoinette), daughter Elena King, grandchildren Sandra, Ashley and Nicholas, as well as nieces and nephews in Italy and Australia and sisters-in-law Vincenza Panontin and Flores Berri in Italy.
Many thanks for the excellent care provided by Dr. Chris Stefanovich, Dr. Vincent Maida and dear friend Dr. Elaine Chin. Also to the many friends who provided loving support and compassion in particular Maria Piasentin, Elizabeth Smedema and Barbara from WeCare.
Friends will be received at the Ward Funeral Home, 4671 Hwy. 7 (west of Pine Valley Dr.) Woodbridge, 905-851-9100, on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9p.m A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Peter’s Church, 100 Bainbridge Ave., Woodbridge, on Thursday, December 18th, 2014 at 9:30a.m. Entombment to follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
