Haywick, Nicholas
Passed away peacefully after a courageous fight at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital on Friday September 20, 2013 at the age of 85. Predeceased by his beloved wife Elsie (2000). Loving and supportive Dad to Doug (Charlyn Partridge) and Laurie (Ken McIntyre). Cherished and proud Grandpa to Kristi and Jenny, and “Canada Paw-Nick” to Brayden. Nick is survived by his brothers Pete and Mike and sister Elsie, all of Saskatchewan. He will be sadly missed by all of his nieces, nephews and many friends. Nick was a long time resident of Oakville. He cared for and tended to his home and garden as he did everything in life, to the fullest. His career and passion was in welding and pipefitting and his expertise enabled him to travel across Canada and overseas. He was proud member of Local Union 46 since 1952. After retirement, and a suggestion from his late wife, Nick became a much-loved crossing guard to neighborhood children, getting them to and from school safely. The family would like to thank all the nurses and doctors on 4E of the OTMH for their compassion and care for Nick during his stay.
Family and friends will be received at the Ward Funeral Home, “Oakville Chapel” 109 Reynolds Street, Oakville on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A mass and burial will be held on Wednesday September 25th, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Michael’s Parish, 181 Sewell Drive, Oakville, followed by burial at Trafalgar Lawn Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations to Oakville Hospital Foundation would be appreciated. Please visit the Book of Memories at www.wardfuneralhome.com
