Nellie Masiak

Nellie (Anastasia) Masiak 

February 20, 2024 

 Nellie Masiak (nee Lula), loving known to her family as Baba, passed away February 20, 2024 in Collingwood, ON where she resided from 2021-2024. She celebrated her 100th birthday with family and many wonderful caregivers February 14, 2024.  

 She was born in Poland and immigrated to Canada with her family in 1929. They moved directly to Rorketon, Manitoba. She was one of four siblings (Jean, Nellie, Stan, Jack) who resided with their parents (George and Mary) on a homestead and then a farm until 1942. 

 In 1942 when she was 18 years old, Nellie moved to Toronto, ON where she found work as a chambermaid at the Royal York Hotel. There she met the late Steve Masiak and married in July 1943.  

 Cherished mother of son Larry (wife Kathy). Loving Baba to Andrew (wife Ingrid) and Jennifer. Nellie loved her family and many childhood friends dearly. She is remembered as a happy, caring and passionate woman who was loved by all who met her. 

 Family and friends will be received for visitation February 26, 2024 at 12:30 pm at Ward Funeral Home Weston Chapel (2035 Weston Rd) and the funeral ceremony at 1:00 pm. Burial to follow at Beechwood Cemetery (7241 Jane St)
