Passing peacefully at Cawthra Gardens residence in Mississauga on May 2, 2019 at the age of 91. Loving wife of Edward for 66 years. Honoured mother of Kathryn Chirametli and Michael Gamble (Dianne). Cherished grandmother to Lauren (Dan Riverso), Cassandra, and Nicholas. Great-grandmother to Charlotte and Andrea. Sister to Shirley, Helen, Amy, Thelma, and Ron. Muriel spent a happy childhood in South River and Trout Creek, Parry Sound District. As a teen she was active in the Acton United Church and town band. After her wedding in 1950, she moved to Wichita, Kansas, returning to Ontario with her family 5 years later. Muriel lived in Toronto while working with the Ontario Government as manager of the senior payroll. She enjoyed retirement in Sandy Cove Acres, Stroud, boating on Lake Simcoe with the Lefroy and Big Bay Point Yacht Clubs. Winter months were spent in Tarpon Springs, Florida. Muriel had a 90th birthday celebration at Heritage Place, Barrie before moving to Mississauga to be closer to family. The family have invited guests to join them in celebrating Muriel’s life at the Ward Funeral Home, 52 Main St. South, Brampton, on Thursday, May 16, 2019, visitation will take place from 9:00 am until the time of service in the Chapel at 10:30 am, followed by a reception and time of fellowship at the Peel Regional Police Association building located at 10675 Mississauga Road, Brampton. Internment will commence at 2:30 pm in Acton at Fairview Cemetery, Main Street South (Hwy 25) and Cobblehill Rd. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Arthritis Society would be greatly appreciated by the family
