It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Monique French, who left us peacefully on November 7, 2024, at the age of 78, with her beloved daughter by her side. After a year of health challenges, Monique is now at rest.
Monique lived a life marked by compassion, reflected in her successful career as a nurse and her time working with Canada Post—both roles she took immense pride in. Known for her warmth and humour, her ability to make friends with everyone she met left a lasting impression.
She leaves behind her cherished daughter Kimberley, with whom she shared countless happy memories. Kimberley was her sole caretaker throughout her final year, providing love and support each step of the way.
Monique is also lovingly remembered by her son-in-law Raymond. Monique and Raymond often enjoyed a cold beer and a good laugh in the backyard on warm summer days, moments they both treasured.
Monique was a proud Nana to Joshua, Spencer, and Brianna. She never missed a chance to share stories about them with anyone she met, and she always took a genuine interest in their careers, reminding them often of how proud she was. Her home was filled with photos of her grandchildren, capturing her joy and love for them.
Monique is survived by her brother George and his wife Gail, and her sister Linda, all of whom she held dear.
She also had a deep love for her two cats, Russell and Parker, who will miss her dearly. She is now reunited in heaven with her late Shih Tzu, Princess.
A private family memorial service will take place. The family extends heartfelt thanks to the healthcare staff at Lakeridge Health Oshawa for their compassionate care.
Monique’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved her. She will be remembered for her caring spirit, her love of family, and the joy she found in life’s simplest pleasures.
