Monica Leslie

It is with great sadness that the family of Monica Leslie announces her peaceful passing at Etobicoke General Hospital, on December 15, 2023. Monica was born in Vancouver on May 10, 1960, to parents Tillie & August Engelbrecht.

Predeceased by her loving husband John. Beloved mother of Mitchell (Nancy). She loved animals & adored animals; she had a special love for her fur babies Gus & Jaxx.

Monica met John while hitchhiking from Vancouver to Toronto. The love they had for one another was unparalleled. She absolutely loved visiting High Park every year to see the Cherry Blossoms. Among so many things, Monica will be remembered as a true warrior. She always put others before herself, even as her health was declining, she would always put the wellbeing & health of others at the forefront.

She will be missed by all the people whose lives she touched. Her unmatched kindness & compassion have imprinted on the hearts of so many. The world truly is a better place because Monica was in it.

Cremation has taken place. Family and friends will be received at the Ward Funeral Home (4671 Hwy 7, Woodbridge) for a memorial visitation on Friday, December 29, 2023, from 4:00-8:00 p.m.
