On March 15, 2024 Mildred Elaine Robinson (89) succumbed to the debilitating illness, pulmonary fibrosis. She passed away peacefully at her home in Toronto, Ontario. Although her passing was inevitable, her family and friends are deeply saddened by her death. Mathew. 5:4 “Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted” [NKJV].
Mildred was born on May 3, 1934 to Alice and Lucius Bennett in Kingston, Jamaica. She was the sixth of 11 children. In 1951 she married the late Rudolph George Robinson and the union produced five children, George, Neville, Jennifer, Newton and Hilary. In 1961, she relocated to England where she honed her skills in hairdressing and cooking. In 1975 she immigrated to Toronto, Canada. Subsequently, she became a Personal Support Worker at Kipling Acres Long-Term Care Home.
In 1980 she gave her life to the Lord Jesus Christ. As such, she became a devout Pentecostal Christian. Ephesians. 2:12 “…that at that time you were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world” [NKJV]. After retiring from her vocation in 1998, she became extremely active in her Church, by volunteering and helping others. Millie’s firm belief in God is a testament to her perseverance in fighting her illness. For example, the average life span for a person with pulmonary fibrosis is 3 years. Millie fought it for 8 years. Her doctor was in awe at her resilience.
She is survived by the following: her sisters Delores, Charmaine and Lorna; her five children; a daughter and son-in-law; a pre-deceased grandchild; 19 other grandchildren; a pre-deceased great grandchild; 36 other great grandchildren; 11 great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, including extended family members, and numerous friends.
Mildred’s heart has stopped, but her spirit stubbornly endures. Although we continually yearn for her, we rejoice that she has divinely completed her spiritual journey to God. Revelation. 21:4 “And God will wipe every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away” [NKJV].
The family would like to thank Dr. Max Huang for his compassion in helping Mildred through her pain and suffering. We are also grateful to all of our family and her friends for your kind words and prayers.
