With great sadness in my heart, I share that my dear brother passed away suddenly on October 4th, 2022 in his 60th year due to a cardiac event.
Michael was the beloved son of Leo and Wanda Vendruscolo (both deceased) and the cherished brother of Cathy.
Michael was a talented photographer who worked on film sets doing stills photography, and in the graphic arts and music industries. These were exciting and formative years in his career and he treasured all the experiences, collaborations and friendships both professional and personal. Along with Rick and so many others, he had fond memories of his good friend Monty who passed away 2 years ago, and who he missed greatly.
Michael loved photography, art, literature and music and made many friends throughout the years with whom he shared these interests and enjoyed many deep conversations. He had a great sense of humor and was an avid hockey fan and Dave Keon super fan. In later years when health issues presented physical limitations, his artistic focus became more personal, capturing images of nature’s beauty, or the image of the weathered hands of age, the soulful eyes of a stray cat - images that were as sensitive as they were artistic.
Michael was a deeply compassionate, spiritual soul, who had the ability to listen with his head and his heart. This made him good at his craft and more importantly, it made him a good friend, with whom you could share anything, free of judgment; a good son, who selflessly devoted himself to caring for our mom in her last years, and, it made him the adored Cat Whisperer to our pets over the years.
Michael felt truly blessed to have such wonderful close friends Ernie, Al, Lou, Patti and Per, with whom he could share his heartfelt thoughts, enjoy a good laugh, have a philosophical discussion or commiserate a bad hockey call. In recent times, when pain challenged sleep, he appreciated the chats, especially the late-night chats. Please know that your words of comfort, counsel and encouragement sustained him. He felt your love and he loved you more than you know.
My dear Michael – my sweet brother, my best friend, we were always so close. I love you and miss you. I miss everything about you, that made you uniquely Michael. While my sadness is immense, I am comforted in knowing that you are now with our mom and dad, our cats Chloe and Tiberio, in a place where there is no more pain for anyone.
I would like to thank all our family, friends and colleagues for their kind support, phone calls and love. In Michael’s memory, please share an act of kindness toward any of God’s creation that may be in need. There is so much need.
In lieu of flowers, and if you wish to do so, please make a donation to The Hospital for Sick Children or any charity that protects and promotes the health, care and well-being of animals in need.
