LONG-TIME BELL CANADA EMPLOYEE
Passed away peacefully in his sleep at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital on Tuesday April 19, 2011, three days after celebrating his 85th birthday. Beloved husband of Dorothy for 60 glorious years. Loving father of Joanne (Brian) Cunningham; Maureen (Brent) Griffiths; Patricia (Barry) Skitch and Kevin (Vivienne) McFall. Proud grandfather to Michael (Catherine), Matthew (Tanya), Carley, Adam, Amy, Michael, Erica, Kyle and Tyler and great grandfather to Marcella and Anthony. Brother to Mrs. Verna Giannelli (U.S.A.).
Served as a leading telegraphist air gunner in WWII and latterly as a Captain in the Canadian Grenadier Guards Regiment in Montreal. Following discharge attended university and played professional football in Montreal. Dad proudly wore a Grey Cup Championship ring. After completing university, joined Bell Canada for 39 years, including three in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Always active in community affairs, he was instrumental in developing and serving on several homeowners’ associations in both Montreal and in Toronto. During a short period in London, Ontario, Dad was President of the Chamber of Commerce of that city. His passions included golf and woodworking. He made wooden toys which were donated to needy children.

Visitation will be held at WARD FUNERAL HOME OAKVILLE CHAPEL, 109 Reynolds Street, Oakville, ON (905) 844-3221 on Tuesday April 26, 2011 from 2 – 5 p.m. and 7 – 9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Dominic’s Roman Catholic Church, 2415 Rebecca Street, Oakville, ON on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. Cremation. Private interment. Donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated by the family.
