BISS - MICHAEL N. "MIKE" (Justice of the Peace, Ret., Det. Sgt. Peel Regional Police, Ret.)
Passed away quietly in his sleep in the evening of November 30, 2012 at his home in Parry Sound, Ontario. Mike is survived by Lorna, his loving and devoted Wife of 48 Years; by his children, Steven, Jeff, and Jody, of whom he was immensely proud; by his grandchildren, Hollis, Delia, Alexandra, James, Hollan and Sophia, who he deeply loved and cherished; by his brothers, Franklin and John, and his sister, Francis, with whom he was close; by his life-long friends, Brian Cameron and Blair Smith; and by his beloved pug dog, Carter. Mike was born in Hubbard, Saskatchewan, in a log cabin built by his father. After serving in the Merchant Marines, Mike enjoyed a long and distinguished career in Law Enforcement with the Metropolitan Toronto Police and Peel Regional Police Forces. Mike later became a Justice of the Peace sitting on the Bench in Brampton and Parry Sound. He especially enjoyed the celebration of marriage, which he conducted both for his daughter Jody and her husband Paul, for his niece Roni, and many others. He honourably administered Justice for many years, retiring from the Bench in 2005. He "stood up for the Fish"; loved to tell stories; and took the greatest of care with all the "little ones" in his Life, who he loved so much. Mike was always there for his family in time of need. He was the greatest Husband, Dad, and PowPow. There will always be a fire burning and His Worship's chair at the Cottage will never be empty.
