June 6, 1933 – June 11, 2011

Passed away peacefully at St. Michael’s Hospital, Toronto, Ontario. Michael was the loving father of Sarah Gosse (Mark Crawford) and Mark (Rocio Jurado); grandfather of Matthew, Brittany and Patricia. Brother of Len (Gwen), Gwen (Len Smith deceased), twin of John (Joan) and Dorothy. Beloved Uncle to the Smith and Bisgrove nieces and nephews, their spouses and families. Survived by his former wife and mother of his children, Barbara. Dear friend of Margaret Elrick, Mary and Garrett Mansfield, Debra and Marc Katchen, Kim and Kevin Mansfield, and Lesley Mansfield. Beloved “Uncle Michael” to the Katchen, Mansfield and O’Hearn children. The love and joy he extended to these children leaves an endearing legacy to them all. Long time friend of Adrian Cowley. Michael was born in London, England and emigrated to Canada in 1957 with his best friend Norman Jackson. A long time employee of the former Scarborough Board of Education he acted as a liaison between the architects and builders of schools. Michael was a skilled draftsman, artist, photographer, calligrapher, woodworker, raconteur and classical music lover. Friends will be received at the Ward Funeral Home, 2035 Weston Road (North of Lawrence Ave. W.) Weston on Friday June 17, 2011 from 10:30am with a Celebration of Michael’s life to follow in the chapel at 11:30am. As expressions of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, donations to the SickKids Foundation would be appreciated.
