Our Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother passed away peacefully in her sleep, after 95 years. Mom lived a long time and accomplished many things. In her younger years she was an athlete and a beauty queen. Mom was the star pitcher for the Maple Leafs of the Beaches Ladies' Senior Softball League and Miss Toronto 1937. Together with her husband Harold (deceased 2005), mom enjoyed traveling and experiencing the history and culture of people and places across Europe and the many Islands of the sunny south, particularly in the winter. And even though she hadn't pitched softball for many years, she remained a lifelong passionate fan of almost all sports, believing, like many of us, that one the Toronto Maple Leafs will win the Stanley Cup. But unlike most Leaf's fans today, she was around to revel in their past Stanley Cup victories! In her later years she was devoted to her family. Ask anyone at the senior's resident and then the nursing home where she lived her final years and you'll hear that Mom talked constantly about her daughters Jeanette and Judy, her grandchildren Tighe, Tad, Tarra, Calley and Brendan and her great grandchildren Jacob, Quinn, Maxwell, Bronte and Raya. It is with profound sadness that Mom didn't live just another few days so she could have shared in the joy of the birth of Jasmine, her sixth great grandchild, who is expected any day. As one sole departs this world another is born into it.
Friends will be received at the Ward Funeral Home for visiting on Sunday, March 22nd, 2015 from 11am-1pm. A service will be held in the chapel at 1pm. Reception to follow.
