BRECKENRIDGE (nee Headlam), Mavis Irene
Aug. 27, 1929 – March 8, 2022
A graduate of the Ontario College of Pharmacy, University of Toronto, Class of 53 she practiced for 47 years. She had a love of the arts; music, theatre, opera, dance and particularly the visual arts, being an accomplished painter herself.
As a lifelong member of St. John’s Weston (now part of St. Mary and St. Martha) she started Kids Klub which ran during March break, she instigated the formation of the Sanctuary Group for the purpose of refugee sponsorship, and founded the weekly community supper, Com-Sup. She served as church warden and was a lay member of synod for many years. Mavis was very honoured to receive the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee medal for dedicated voluntary service. She and Walter curled for many years as members of the Weston Golf & Country Club.
Mavis passed away peacefully, aged 92, after a period of gradually declining health. Loving mother to Rena Mary (Emerson), Janet (Nigel), Robert (late Deborah), Paul (Dominic), James (Cheryl); grandmother to Clifford, Aaron, Miriam (Elliott), Sarah, Maxwell, Trevor, Deseria, Ryan, Andrew, and great-grandmother to Kaitlynn, Elizabeth, Walter Benjamin, Adrien, and caring aunt to nieces and nephews.
We were blessed to have her in our lives.
She follows her parents Ellen Mary ‘Nell’ and Robert Stanley “Bob” Headlam, spouse Walter, 2013, Grandson Tyler, 2013, Daughter-in-law Deborah, March 4, 2022.

Visitation is on Friday March 18th, 4-6pm and 7-9 pm at the Ward Funeral Home, 2035 Weston Rd. Funeral service will be Saturday March 19, 2022 at 11:00 am at St. Mary and St. Martha Anglican Church, 1149 Weston Rd.
