Maud, age 97 1/2 years passed away peacefully in the early hours of Saturday morning at the Village of
Sandalwood Long Term Care in Brampton. Predeceased by her loving husband, Kenneth James Rowntree (October 4, 2016) of 67 years. She will be greatly missed by her daughters and sons-in-law Janice (John) Cooper, Michele (Hans) Urban and her grandchildren Adam and Matthew Cooper, Jessica (Kyle) Battie, Caitlin (Justin) McGill and great-granddaughter Athena McGill. Maud was the youngest daughter of Jessie McGregor McKay (1954) and William Edward Travis (1983).Predeceased by sisters
Phyllis Travis Jackson (September 2010) Maud spent her early childhood in Comber and Burks Falls
Ontario before moving to Weston. Upon graduating high school Maud became a secretary for the blueprint department at National Steel in Malton. A year later she moved on to Victory Aircraft which later
became AV Rowe where she met Ken. She was the head secretary to the Plant Engineer during the
exciting times of the building of the AVRO aircraft for 10 years before leaving to raise her girls. Maud
enjoyed many activities: sewing, square dancing and travelling with Ken to all the Provinces and all 50
States. She was a lifetime member of the Women's Missionary Society, St. Andrews Church Brampton and a weekly volunteer at Peel Memorial Hospital in Brampton 1959 - 1999. She also belonged to the Brampton Horticultural Society. She will be missed by us all.
