Matilde Sottile

With sorrow in our hearts, we announce the passing of Matilde Sottile, on May 4, 2016, after a long illness. She was born in Rende, Italy, on March 3, 1923, one of 12 children, to Domenico and Michelina Mazzei.
She is pre-deceased by her loving husband, Santo, is the beloved mother of Mary (Frank), Peter (Pat) and Teresa (Peter). Cherished grandmother of Julie, Michael (Nancy), and devoted great grandmother to Theresa and Sarah. She is survived by her dear sisters Ada (Mario), and Emilia (in Rende,Cosenza,) who celebrated her 100th birthday. She is pre-deceased by siblings Ettore (Anna), Esterina (Giovanni), Angelina, Vincenza, Annina, Elisa, Giuseppe, Santo, and Mario. She will be sadly missed by her sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, her many nieces and nephews, cousins, and all friends and family.
Sincere thanks and gratitude to Noemi Hermoso, Rowena Cruz, and most recently, all the staff on the 5th floor at Villa Colombo for the caregiving and nursing provided to our mother.

Friends will be received at Ward Funeral Home, 2035 Weston Road (North of Lawrence Ave. W.) Weston, on Friday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be held at Immaculate Conception R.C. Church, 2 Richardson Avenue on Saturday, May 7th, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. Entombment to follow at Westminster Cemetery.
If desired, donations may be made to Villa Charities or St. Clair Services for Seniors in lieu of flowers.
