Matilde Ercoli

On May 12th, 2015 Matilde passed away peacefully with her family by her side. Devoted wife of Ottavio of 64 loving years. Proud mother of Roberta (Enzo) and Pasquale (Karen). Cherished Nonna to Federico (Amanda), Marybeth, Christopher, Ryan (Alicia), and Melissa. Adoring Bisnonna to Gia, Amaya, and Dustin. Beloved sister to the late Enzo (Marina), Flora (the late Nino), the late Amedeo (Doreen), Giuseppina (the late Antonio), Biancarosa (the late Lamberto). Loving Zia to Pamela (Luigi), Robbie (Rita), Sonia (Marcello) and loving great Zia to Luca, Julian, Sophia, and Sienna. She will also be sadly missed by her extended family and friends in Italy.
Matilde was born in Porto Civitanova Marche, Italy. She and 6 month old daughter Roberta immigrated to Canada via the Saturnia arriving at PIER 21 in Halifax, Nova Scotia on March 29th, 1953 joining her husband in Toronto shortly thereafter where they planted their roots.
Friends and family will be received at the Ward Funeral Home, 2035 Weston Road (North of Lawrence Ave. West) on Wednesday May 20th from 2-4p.m. & 7-9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Sorrows Roman Catholic Church, 3055 Bloor St. West (Royal York Rd. & Bloor St) on Thursday May 21st, 2015 at 11a.m. Entombment to follow at Glendale Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
