Mary Sandanam

On Wednesday, August 16, 2017, Mary Jeanne Shiranee Sandanam (nee Casiechitty) - a beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, and friend - passed away suddenly but peacefully at the age of 66, just two months away from fulfilling her dream to settle down in Kotagala, Sri-Lanka.

A strong believer in Jesus Christ, Mary wholeheartedly believed that when you fully leave your life up to God, you end up being in peace and happiness. Her faith, even in pain and suffering, never wavered. In fact, a few hours before she died, even though she had no strength or energy to do anything - not even talk - she managed to complete praying the whole rosary with her husband and daughter; a daily practise they follow as a family. She was a remarkable woman who lived and died in faith.

Those who got to meet her, even if it was only once, knew that she was someone who was full of life, and was genuinely a caring and selfless human being who would put the cares and concerns of others before her own. You could say that she was someone who lived to love, loved to laugh, and laughed to live.

Her faith, her smile, her laugh, her beauty (both on the inside and out), and her outlook on life & death; that’s what made her Mary Jeanne Shiranee Sandanam. Wife of Karuppan Sandanam; Mother (and best friend) of Anne Sandanam; Daughter of Justin and Marian Casiechitty; Sister of: Kaliamma, Seetha, Yvonne Jesuthasan, Rene Doss, Delreen Mohamed, Langsford Casiechitty, Rohan Casiechitty, Worrel Casiechitty, and Arlene James; Aunt of: Vasant, Ajant, Needra, Nirupa, Mythili, Sugan, Shehan, Leon, Prasannia (Pinky), Gehan, Shanel, Rendl, Nathasha, Miguel, Avril, Nigel, Andrea, Maryanne, and Shanice; and loving friend to all!

Mary was an ardent supporter of Missionaries of Charity. Rather than ordering flowers for her wake, make her happy and consider donating to your nearest Missionaries of Charity location.
