Mary Petrie

With great sadness, the family announces the passing of Mary at Oakville Trafalgar Hospital on Monday, July 15, at the age of 87. Mary was the beloved wife of Bruce for 63 years, loving and much-loved mother of Gordon (Peggy) Petrie, Donna (Robert) Kirk, Karen (Brian) Romeril, Sandra (John) Muir, and Scott Petrie. She was the proud “gramma” of Adam Romeril and Lisa and Alana Petrie, dear aunt to her many nieces and nephews, and kind and thoughtful friend to many others. Also left to mourn are her brothers Bert (Rose) Foote, Fred (Vera) Foote, and sister Ella Foss of Newfoundland. She was predeceased by her parents, William and Caroline Foote, sisters Maisie (Arch) Saunders and Jane (Hillary) Russell, and brothers Clarence (Pearl) Foote and Wesley Foote: all of Newfoundland. Mary was a tireless supporter and worker in the service of Knox 16 Presbyterian Church since the early 1960's, and her funeral will be held there (1150 Dundas St. West at Lions Valley Park Road in Oakville) on Friday, July 19th at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be Thursday, July 18, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Ward Funeral Home, 109 Reynolds St. in Oakville. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory to Knox 16 Presbyterian Church would be appreciated.
