On February 27, Mary with her daughter by her side, she quietly slipped away to be reunited with her soul mate Edward Donald Gurr (predeceased 2006)
Mary Eleanor Charlotte Gurr (nee Gerow) will be sadly missed by all those whose lives she touched. A gentle smile and a comforting hand, she gave so much love to all around her and never asked for anything in return.
A wife, mom, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, neighbour and friend. Mary was cherished by us all.
Mary will be dearly missed by her daughters, Judith (Randall) and Michelle. She was and will always be our guiding light.
Mary was blessed with one wonderful granddaughter Sarah and two adorable great grandchildren, Alexander and Giuliani. Grammie loved you and adored you!
Mary cared about giving back to her community in support many causes and organizations some of which include: The Peel Board of Education, The Heart and Stroke Foundation, The Cancer Society. Most recently Mary was part of the Brampton Theatres team where she enjoyed meeting new people and supporting arts & culture at The Rose Theatre.
Pre-retirement, Mary began collecting ceramics which gave her and Ted an excuse to get out and travel around the world with others who shared enthusiasm for all things Royal Doulton. In retirement her love of travel continued as a cruise veteran. Her favourite places included the Caribbean, French Riviera, Greek Isles & Aegean Sea, and South America all the way to Antarctica. There was always some adventure or museum or church just around the corner. The most memorable, sailing the Baltic Seas while cooking alongside Celebrity Chef Jamie Gwen. You can teach an old gal new techniques.
A special thank you to the kind hearts of PSW’s Leila, Sadie and Arlene, all the staff and volunteers at Bethell Hospice in Inglewood and Doctor Chris Veenema and the Family Health Team in Brampton. Your kindness and the dignity you extended to our mom and our family was exemplary.
We will miss you dearly Mom. We already do!
In light of these challenging times, a family service will be observed privately. Our family will have a celebration of life at a later date when we can all get together as friends and family.
In lieu of flowers a donation to Bethell Hospice Foundation or a charity of your choice, would be greatly appreciated.
