Mary Finlay, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on April 7, 2025, at the age of 88, surrounded by those who loved her most.

Born in Glasgow, Scotland, on May 30, 1936, Mary was a woman of remarkable strength, fierce independence, and boundless spirit. Her life was defined by courage. From her determined youth to the bold decision to emigrate to Canada in 1970 in search of a better future. That leap of love and grit shaped the foundation of a life well lived.

In Canada, Mary embraced a new beginning and found not only opportunity, but also enduring love with her husband, Les. Together, they built a life full of laughter, dancing, and deep devotion. A true partnership rooted in joy and mutual respect.

As time passed, the strong edges of Mary’s independence softened into a profound warmth. She became known for her sharp wit, radiant energy, and her unmatched ability to light up any room. Whether spinning a story, delivering a trademark one-liner, or speaking her mind. Always with heart, Mary lived unapologetically and passionately. She was, in every sense, the life of the party.

Mary was a devoted mother to Linda (Frank), a proud and loving grandmother to Daniel (Monica), Derrick (Chantelle), and David (Cara), and a joyful great-grandmother to James and Joseph. Her family was her greatest pride, and her love for them knew no bounds.

She leaves behind a legacy of resilience, love, and laughter. Mary taught those around her to stand tall, speak truthfully, and love deeply. Her presence will be deeply missed, her memory warmly cherished, and her spirit forever celebrated.

Family and friends will be received at the Ward Funeral Home (4671 Highway 7, Woodbridge) on Thursday, April 17, 2025 from 12:30 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Funeral Service to follow at 1:00 p.m.
