Mary Air (nee Zatychec)

It is with profound sadness that our family announces the passing of Mary on March 21, 2015. Born in Poland on August 4th, 1927. She will be greatly missed by John, her devoted husband of 62 years, and her beloved children Nancy (Don), John Jr., Jeffrey (Diane) and Paula (Ted). Mary was predeceased by her daughter Patricia (John) in 1994, a devastating loss to our family. Mary was a loving “Granny” to Tori, Mark, Pam, Kyle, Owen, and Gemma. Dear sister to Ollie, Jeanne and predeceased by brother Bill (Jean). She will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Also remembered lovingly by in-laws Sandy and Fred and predeceased by George, Peter and Betty. Mary started her career in 1943 as a secretary (Atlas Steels Ltd. And J.I. Case Co.) and then for 20 years prior to her retirement was a library assistant for Etobicoke Public Library. Mary was an avid reader, and her love of books was surpassed only by her love of family. She also relished her Florida and Muskoka vacations, dinner theatre and family gatherings. Friends will be received at the Ward Funeral Home, 2035 Weston Road (north of Lawrence Ave. W.) on Wednesday, March 25 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. A Service will be held on Thursday, March 26th at 11 a.m. at Humbervale United Church, 1447 Royal York Road. Interment to follow at Prospect Cemetery. If desired, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
