Martin Barrera

The Rev. Martin Barrera Revolorio, dearly known as Papito Martin, Tincito, Tio Tin, or Hermano Martin, was born on January 30, 1928 in El Adelanto (Jutiapa), Guatemala, to Sindulfo Barrera and Petronila Revolorio. Married to the late Maria Graciela Chinchilla for 64 years. Father to Telma Ruth and Neftali Gomez, Leti Josabeth and Andre Teunissen, Dora Elizabeth, Grant Ewen, Febe Judith and Oscar De La Rosa, Mefi Ottoniel and Martin Jonatan. Grandfather to Carolina and Trevor, Sylvana and Dominic, Graciela and Marc, Amarylis and Carlos, Zara, and Samuel. Great Grandfather to Callie and Carlitos. Survived by his brother and sisters Juan, Estanislaa, and Paulina, in Guatemala. Became a Sergeant II at the Guatemalan Army at an early age before going to the Assemblies of God Bible Institute. Pastored churches in El Zaron (Jutiapa), Zapotitlan (Jutiapa), San Andres Itzapa (Chimaltenango), El Ovejero (Jutiapa), Chiquimulilla (Santa Rosa) and Guatemala City. Hosted the radio program “Cristo Viene” (“Christ is Coming”), together with Graciela, for several years at Radio Rosa in Chiquimulilla. Moved with his family to Toronto, Canada, in 1989, where he attended the Iglesia Evangelica Hispana and Weston Park Baptist Church. Loved praying, reading the Bible and spreading the Gospel; being supportive to Graciela; talking through Skype with baby Callie - "La Calita"; and being a pillar of strength for his family. Longed for the love of his life, Graciela, for eight months minus one day, before going peacefully to join her in Heaven on April 19, 2016. Papito Martin will be missed by his family and friends in Canada, Guatemala and all over the world.

Padre de Telma Ruth y Neftali Gomez, Leti Josabeth y Andre Teunissen, Dora Elizabeth, Grant Ewen, Febe Judith y Oscar De La Rosa, Mefi Ottoniel, y Martin Jonatan. Abuelo de Carolina y Trevor, Sylvana y Dominic, Graciela y Marc, Amarylis y Carlos, Zara, y Samuel. Bisabuelo de Callie y Carlitos. Sobrevivido por sus hermanos Juan, Estanislaa, y Paulina, en Guatemala. Obtuvo el rango de Sargento Segundo en el Ejercito de Guatemala antes asistir al Instituto Biblico de las Asambleas de Dios. Pastoreo iglesias en El Zaron (Jutiapa), Zapotitlan (Jutiapa), San Andres Itzapa (Chimaltenango), El Ovejero (Jutiapa), Chiquimulilla (Santa Rosa), y la Ciudad de Guatemala. Presentador del programa “Cristo Viene” en la Radio Rosa de Chiquimulilla, junto a su esposa. Se traslado con su familia a Toronto, Canada, en 1989, donde asistio a la Iglesia Evangelica Hispana de Toronto y a la Iglesia Bautista Weston Park. Dedicado a la oracion, la lectura de la Biblia, y a predicar el Evangelio; a apoyar a Graciela durante su enfermedad; a comunicarse por Skype con su bisnieta Callie - "La Calita"; y a ser una columna de fortaleza para su familia. Se reunio con el amor de su vida, Graciela, la noche del 19 de abril 2016, ocho meses menos un dia despues de su partida. Su familia y amigos en Canada, Guatemala, y por todo el mundo extranaremos a nuestro amado Papito Martin muy profundamente.
