Marko Gastis

Gastis, Marko – With profound sadness we mourn the passing of Marko on September 4, 2024, at the age of 77. Predeceased by his parents Donna and Pentelis, who raised him with such love and devotion. He is also predeceased by his father Georgi Marko Caradakos who he lost at a young age. Marko is survived by his beloved partner Shelley and his children Cory (Kelli), Candace (James), Michelle, Lori and Jeffery. Always proud and doting Dedo to Kean, Tatum, Charlotte, Bronwyn, Jenna, Aleya, Ryan and Sam. Marko was the loving brother to Olga (Walter) and will also be missed by their three children and six grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by his large circle of family and friends.

Marko was passionate about family, friends, watching and playing sports, food, Motown and being in a good conversation. He believed that those things could always bring people together and was a gateway to building lasting memories. He had a unique ability to remember every person’s name and to form deep and lasting connections with so many. His spirit will live on through the countless memories shared with those fortunate enough to know him.

Marko and the family want to express their deepest appreciation to the entire medical team who provided unwavering care, compassion and comfort to Marko over this past year and in particular during his final weeks. Thank you, Dr. Eric Monterio, Anna Bested, Dr. Lucy Ma, Dr. Aruz Mesci, Dr. Karen Gomes Hernandez, Dr. Keith Johnstone, Andrew Wong, Terri-Lynn Bescko, Kalika Lloyd, Wilson Suen and Dr. Josh Tepper.

As per his wishes cremation has taken place and a visitation will be held at Ward Funeral Home, 2035 Weston Road (North of Lawrence Ave. W.) Toronto, on Saturday October 19 from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. followed by a luncheon at 1:30 p.m. at Sts. Constantine & Helen Church, 1 Brookhaven Drive, Toronto.
