Marilio D’Andrea
Our dear Marilio passed away peacefully in his sleep at 6pm on Monday June 8th at Humber River Hospital, Toronto. He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Maria, his three children, Larry, Patrick and Laurie. Nonno, to his cherished Matteo, Giacomo, Luca, Jessica and Melissa. Bisnonno to Christina and Clark.
“Boccia” as he was fondly referred to by his close friends, all of which immigrated to Toronto from Fruili around the same time in the 1950s, will be missed dearly by Lino, Rinaldo and Vittorio. His younger brother Federico, the last surviving brother of 5, has a special place in his heart for his older brother Marilio and will cherish a lifetime of memories.
Marilio was a lover of birds and raised many beautiful show canaries in his lifetime. He was also an avid hunter of ducks and pheasant as well as an avid lake trout and pickerel fisherman.
A master tile setter and marble installer, an artist, Marilio became a proud member of the International Union of Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers in March of 1952. Through hard work and integrity he built a loving and stable life for his family, not a small feet for a 17 year old Italian boy who boarded a ship for Canada with no clear prospects in sight. We will miss you Nonno.
