Marietta Lia

Marietta Bomparola in Lia

God called Marietta peacefully on April 27, 2020 at the age of 91. She is now joyfully reunited in Heaven with her husband Francesco after nearly 50 years, and her beloved infant daughter Anastasia. Cherished by her devoted children, Maria (Pasquale Bonofiglio), Anastasia (Vincenzo Bonofiglio), and Rosario in Canada, and loving son Giuseppe (Teresa) in Italy. Dearest Nonna to Lorenzo, Marisa, Joe (Andrea), Maria (Jesús), Lorenzo (Elisa), Francesco (Elisa), Vincenzo, and Lorena. Nonnina to Emilia, Massimo, Matteo, and Gaia. Pre-deceased by her parents Rosario and Maria, brother Domenico, and sister Lina. She will be held dear in the hearts of many loving nieces, nephews, relatives, and many friends in Canada, Italy, and Kenosha, Wisconsin.

Marietta will always be remembered for her humility, generosity, kindness, and unconditional love and devotion to her faith, family, and friends, whom she welcomed with open arms and a joyful spirit. Despite her hardships, she lived her life with courage, grace, and a gentle smile.

We thank the nurses, PSW's and staff at Villa Colombo Vaughan LTC for their years of caring for our Mother, Nonna, and Zia. In particular, we are forever indebted to PSW Rihanna, who lovingly cared for our mother as if she were her own throughout the years. They had a special bond, and in her last moments, Rihanna represented us, her family, with the love, care, and comfort that we were unable to give under these unfortunate circumstances. There are no words to express how grateful we are for our angel Rihanna.

Due to these difficult times, we will arrange a memorial service at St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church at a later date when the safety of our family and friends is no longer at risk. The family will hold a private service and Marietta will be laid to rest at Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery on May 1, 2020.
