Marie Smith

Born in Renton, Dumbartonshire, Scotland – Passed peacefully with her family by her side at Joseph Brant Hospital in Burlington, in her 71st year.Wife and soul-mate to Edward Alan Smith, loving mother to Mark and Adrian and their wives Paula (Mark) and Valerie (Adrian). Cherished Nana to Trenton, Jack, Rachel, Julia and Gabriella. Marie and Alan were married in Scotland on June 25 1966 and moved to Canada, for their life-long honeymoon 5 days later, settling in Burlington to raise a family. Marie was such an important person to so many people – she was always willing to lend a hand or to sit and talk to anyone or to just be a shoulder to cry on. She absolutely loved working as a school crossing guard for many years and always made sure her kids were safe and secure, and they, in turn loved her right back. In her later years she took much joy in spending time with her children and grandchildren – she would always take the time to sit and read a book with them, colour with them or whatever they wanted – they will all miss her very much. She lived and loved to the fullest and touched so many lives, she was a great friend to many. She always had a story to tell, she never knew any strangers, they were just friends she just hadn’t met yet. Cremation has already taken place. There will be a celebration of her life Thursday July 31st at Paradiso Restaurant - 2041 Pine St Burlington from 6pm to 9pm – Please feel free to drop in and share a story, picture, hug or a cry – we will all miss her very much.
