Maria Triumbari

Maria Antonietta Triumbari “Nietta”, with great sadness and loss, passed away at the age of 56 at Mackenzie Health Hospital in Richmond Hill on Thursday, May 31st, 2018 at 5:57 p.m., after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Maria was born in Bari, Italy on November 3rd, 1961 and immigrated to Canada in 1964. Dear daughter of Vincenza Bulzis and the late Giovanni Bulzis, beloved wife to the late Domenic Triumbari, loving mother to Joe and Teresa Triumbari (Chase Vlahovic), loving sister to Mike and the late Cosimo Bulzis and loving daughter-in-law to Giuseppe and Teresa Triumbari. Maria also leaves behind numerous family members, relatives and friends.

Maria absolutely loved to cook, and was a fantastic cook. She loved to have family and friends over at her home for her home-cooked meals. Her most requested dishes were her focaccia Barese, lemoncello tiramisu, braciole, lasagna, zucchini fritters and panzerotti di bacala! Maria was very proud of being Italian and always spoke about visiting her home country. Maria had a smile and personality that would light up a room, laughing and smiling always. Maria loved to travel, her favourite places to visit were Italy and Aruba.

3 years ago, Maria was diagnosed with advanced and aggressive stage four colon cancer. She was not afraid of the diagnosis and was determined to conquer the disease, even though she was given only 3 months to live from doctors. Maria was extremely strong and was able to turn her 3-month prognosis into a 3-years of survival. Through the 3 years Maria had countless chemotherapy treatments surgeries and procedures to try and eradicate the disease, but unfortunately the disease was relentless and did not give up. Maria is now at peace, pain-free watching over the people she loved most.

The family of Maria want to thank those who cared for Maria and supported her during her tough battle with her illness.

The family will receive friends and family at Ward Funeral Home in Woodbridge on Sunday, June 3rd, 2017 between the hours of 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. The funeral service will follow at 9:30 AM on Monday, June 4th, 2018 at St. Peter’s Church in Woodbridge. Following the funeral service the entombment will be at Queen of Heaven in Woodbridge. A Celebration of Maria’s Life will be held at Sapore Restaurant following the entombment.
